I've used vi since the 80's. Never could figure out emacs, and the other text editors just seemed too different when vi works fine.

VI is the only editor I have ever used on the rare occasion that I had to edit anything on a linux box.

Vi when needed, Gedit otherwise, Bluefish if it is web related (php, html, etc.)
