I'm located close to a group that designs VR games. Some "full" emersion, some using already existing games and just providing a more complete feel to it. For instance, there is a pod-racing game (Phantom Menace style), complete with functional pod. Its pretty nifty!

The question is, my programming experience has not dealt specifically with VR in the past. Can anyone suggest languages or software to take a peak at that might be helpful in starting out? I've seen some documents on the nintendo glove (forget the name), and it seemed pretty interesting... would that be a decent starting point? VRML? Perhaps starting out w/ a bit of hardware programming first? Thats something I need to get my feet into anyways...
