Here is a link on the "Best Routers". Keep in mind these are wireless g routers mostly.

Which brands of these do you choose?

I tend towards linksys or U.S Robotics....

I have never really had any trouble with U.S Robotics...they tend to be a little bit more expensive but I have had good performance and no technical troubles.

I've run several different switches, without problem.
My routers have been Linksys and Netgear, though I prefer the Linksys.
Modems, and non-winmodem works for me. I prefer USR though just because it's easy to get drivers.
For NICs, 3-Com, Kingston and Linksys are prefered, though I've more recently been buying MB's with built in NICs.

Our company is a CISCO partner and I have taken the CCNA a couple times (keep failing it, lol) so I tend to go with Linksys as far as routers and such. (and such being that I have a Linksys hub we used to use back in the day )

I was thinking of going for some Cisco certs but I don't spend enough time with the equipment and I don't have the cash to purchase what I would need to experiement with in order to study for the certs properly.

Hmm...nah i don't have the time....

I do want to get the A+ and Network+ certifications....have both books and I believe I could pass both.

Never even looked into the cisco certifications.....maybe i should.

Employement wise they are worth a lot more than MCSE.

I probably could pass the MCSE....but i don't feel like paying the money for them....lol. How much is the CISCO cert?

We recently bought a Netgear 108Mbps wireless router and promptly returned it. Apparently, those routers (and many others) can't yet handle the increased download bandwidth of some broadband providers. Once I get this new PC built, I'll probably just try to find a Gigabit router and run Cat6 cable.

Interesting. I could use a Gigabit connection. :)
