Can you recommend some good DHTML, XHTML, and PHP books to me.
Also with images do you make rollovers or simply an image that is animated for banners.

Books:
Any of the Dummies or Visual Guide series are good starting points.

Depends on your goals and tastes. I do simple swap in/out style rollovers. Those may or maynot include an animated "hover" button.

w3schools.com has some great html and css reference material, as well as editable examples. I'd reccomend starting there.
For php it kinda depends on what you are doing, if you've done C it should come fairly natural, although you'll probably want to learn some sql as well, again there are some good web resources available.
I'm kinda biased against buying books, usually I can find what I need online faster when it comes to web development. That said there are some decent ones, and I'd reccomend one that covers using php with mysql.

Can you post some good links...lol..that way I can just click and go...
I have a few books on HTML, Flash, and Dreamweaver. What I use them for is reference in case I forget something....which is all the time in my case. I have a bunch of tabs in the books to make looking things up easier.

Before going into php... are you running windows or Linux?
You're gonna want php running of your computer before you do anything.

w3schools.com is great for html and css most of the stuff is in html 4.0 but the transisiton to xhtml is easy. It has complete reference lists and lots of examples, with a online editor to experiment with them.
There is some stuff on dhtml, but not to indepth, just basic stuff. Which IMO is all you should ever use, sites that rely on it are unreliable as you can't control how the clients browser and system are configured.
