View Full Version : DVD Burner: which one do you have? BlackCatBonz 11-15-2005, 02:29 PM Who has a DVD burner, what type....how would you rate it? Shandril 11-15-2005, 02:43 PM Well I have a TDK DVD Burner but I haven't used it to burn a DVD yet. It works fine for burning CD-R and CD-RW disks. Miyu 11-15-2005, 02:49 PM I don't have a dvd burner ^_^ Silent Bob 11-15-2005, 03:11 PM Sony DRU-720A Fast, stable and reliable. Miyu 11-15-2005, 03:58 PM Sony? Did it install anything on you? ;) BlueDragon1981 11-15-2005, 04:41 PM Um...i don't have a dvd burner....... :( Shandril 11-15-2005, 07:18 PM What kind of software came with the Sony? The last Sony burner I installed for someone came with there own software which wasn't that user friendly. Silent Bob 11-15-2005, 08:21 PM Latest version of Nero. :) Shandril 11-15-2005, 09:58 PM Nero is good. I like Nero the best out of the various burning software programs that I have used. BlueDragon1981 11-15-2005, 11:22 PM I like the new CD Now version.....have had problems with Nero in the past... BlackCatBonz 12-30-2005, 08:57 PM For Christmas i received a shiny new burner. A Sony DRU810A. It was a present from my wife (who knows nothing about the whole sony rootkit business, and my personal feelings toward the company) and i think she did a great job. This particular drive received a 9/Kick Ass rating in MaximumPC magazine and it does just that. It came with Nero 6 SE (which means Sony Edition, I believe) and it performs awesome. The drive supports over-burning (so you can cram a bit of extra data on a disk) and it will also overspeed (write faster on some selected media). I backed up about 4 gigs of data on an 8x DVD+R in about 7 minutes +/- a few seconds. MaximumPC said the drive was a bit noisy.......i didnt find this to be the case at all......it's whisper quiet compared to my Samsung 40x24x40x CD burner. In short, this drive is killer. It performs as well and better in some places as the Plextor 716A. http://www.maximumpc.com/2005/11/sony_dru-810a.html |
