Which software do you know of that burns bootable iso files. I found an ISO file for Red Hat 9 that I downloaded once upon a time. I want to burn it so I can install it from the cd on boot, but my burning software doesn't seem to have the iso option anywhere? I have burned it onto a cd the regular data way and it does not boot. So somewhere there should be software that creates the bootable ISO...

I thought that I had something somewhere that did but I have since rebuilt the system...so i lost that program....I am downloading a huge file to update the Record Now that I have...if I recall that might have an ISO option on it. Well let me know what you come up with.

Nero. I haven't found anything else that has consistantly worked for me.

yeah, Nero is the way to go on Windows, once your on Linux though you got other options :)

That said, Red Hat 9 is a little dated, if you can get your hands on something newer you'll be happier ;)

I want to work on one of the older versions. This way I can understand how far it has come....and work out difficulties on my own. This way I will know the system at least a little bit when I move to another one. Once I get some money I will order some CD's of a few of them. After that I would work with one at a time and jump to the next once I get familiar with one....

It will be nice to know the options on linux that you are talking about...

By the way I don't really have problems with CD Now. The version that came with my laptop is pretty good. Its branded for IBM though. I am now downloading the most current version. I know they had changed it a lot since the first version that was on here. Since I rebuilt my system I have to download the update again....forgot to save that one....oops.

Just watch your hardware compatibility, if you got new stuff and a old distrobution, things might not work as nicely. If you're running wireless you can almost forget it ;)

I'd also have my doubts about whether reposatories for it are still active.. might be confined to only what is on the disk or compiling from source for a lot of things...

Anyways, just get Ubuntu to send you disks, they send them out completely free, no catch ;)
