Okay i'm not completely hopeless when it comes to hardware... but DVD burners... I'm kinda lost. I've been looking around at burners and i've seen stuff that says light scribe, double layers ect. I thought all dvd's were double layered anyway so what is the difference between these 'new' burners compared to the old ones that dont have all that stuff?
Hope that made sense.. and i need to update my bookmarks, been a while since i've been here and ya'll up and moved on me. I can take a hint. :p

Depends what your looking to burn. ...?
Regardless of the type you want one that burns DVD + and - . I believe you can get some that burn + - and ROM. That way you have all the compatibilities covered.
You are going to want to look into what speeds they are and the stability of each.

Not all can burn double layer, mine can't, but it's a little old. Essentially it just means you can put 2x the amount of stuff per disk.
Light scribe lets you burn "labels" direct to the cd, the label side has a coating that reacts to the laser and tints it.
There are 2 types, dvd+r and dvd-r, but most dvd burners now burn both types so that shouldn't be a problem.

I find the best thing to do is to look for one and then read through the reviews people gave....they will tell you if they have had problems...trust me on that one.
