In the Year 2020, the Edgerunners controlled the streets, waging their private war against the corporations and their tyrrany. Heavily armed Solos, politic bending rockergirls, and even renegade media junkies fought to bring some semblance normality to the streets.
In 2021, they lost.
The Edgerunners were all but wiped out by the Vast private armies of the corporations. The corporations had won, and the Incorporated States of America was born... Controlling everying in its iron economic grip.
Until the Carbon Plague hit.
Selective Nanotechnology, unleashed on an unsuspecting population by a Corporate AI for its own reasons... the plague killed adults who were infected with it without mercy. It didnt care how high on the corporate ladder they were. It read their genetic code, and simply killed anyone who had reached adulthood.
But the Kids... oh, those childeren of the Cyberpunks... They EVOLVED. The nanotech altered their DNA, bonded with their skin, bones, and Neurons... and created something new...
