Any recommendations for a messenger client app that can connect to multiple systems? I've never installed Trilliian, heard mixed reviews.

I would prefer to avoid a browser-based solution such as meebo.com
Thanks everyone for any input!

I use trillian, Its worked best for me, of all of the ones I have tried.

I use it for AIM, MSN, and Yahoo services with a MINIMUM of headaches.

My best friend uses trillian. When Im on ICQ, its like they don't read each other - she only gets my messages if I send em to her when she's offline

Trillian is okay. ... not my favorite. GAIM is also okay...lacks some functionality but that issue may be helped when they release 2.0.

Personally I use GAIM. Never liked trillian much but I might check out the new version. Free version is limited in my opinion.

I use gaim, but on linux, it works well for me.

http://www.miranda-im.org/ is another option, but I've not tried it

I used Miranda for a little bit....but then reformated my computer and haven't gotten back to it. Didn't impress me much. Pretty much along the same lines with gaim and trillian...not all the functionallity of the original messengers but the point of these is to be able to connect to multiple ones.....

Of course sometime this year MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger are suppose to be compatible with each other. Also since Google bought some of AOL messenger they may merge that some with Google Talk.....who knows what will really happen though.

I didn't like trillian because I had to relearn all my ignore settings. And if they're from ICQ, all you saw was a number, so you didn't know if it was someone you wanted to ignore lol
