View Full Version : Storm Shadow Katana
Cryozombie 03-17-2006, 12:10 AM I'm a bit excited for words right now...
STORM SHADOW KATANA (http://www.museumreplicas.com/webstore/eCat/Unique%20Weapons/Deposit%20On%20Storm%20Shadow%20Sword.aspx)
This blinding white sword has a high carbon steel blade and is richly powder coated with the cutting edge exposed. The sword's Tsuba is beautifully pierced, displaying the deadly and fast striking Cobra, to which Storm Shadow pledges his allegiance..
Your Storm Shadow sword comes complete with a low, Katana styled display stand featuring the Cobra insignia and the name of our powerful Ninja.
The geek in me is making a mess in my pants.
Cryozombie 03-17-2006, 12:14 AM Oh... they have one for Snake Eyes too... but who the hell cares about him.
:D
Jonathan Randall 03-17-2006, 01:17 AM Cool! It must be nice to know how to use one as well. I can only look at them as I'd probably cut of my own fingers trying to handle a real one, LOL.
BTW, have any divers recovered any of the thousands of Katanas dumped into it by Mcarther's orders at the end of WW2? There must be priceless finds there.
SID must be wettin' his fanboi pants over this
Jonathan Randall 03-17-2006, 04:06 AM Given your interest in Blackbeard and pirates in general, what about this one:

Cryozombie 03-17-2006, 04:49 AM Eh.
I have a cutlass, and a nice .50 Cal blackpowder flinlock style pirate pistol.
I do like the Captain's coat that MR sells.

Heh, I was thinking about him when I posted this.
I know I am.
You know, StormShadow is partially responsible for my being a ninja IRL.
Jonathan Randall 03-17-2006, 10:51 PM Eh.

A functional .50? I'd love to have one! How is your cutlass (any links to the model?)? Are they hard to learn how to handle? How and where could I learn?

Yes. It is a functional .50 cal blackpowder pistol.
The cutlass isnt a bad sword. It looks just like that one from Museum replicas, only was a bit cheaper... Its what I would consider a medium qualtiy sword... and honestly, I wouldnt wanna fight with it myself, just because the basket hilt drives me nuts... seing as most of my experience studying a japanese art is with a Kat or Wakizashi. But thats my preference.

How about the museum replica cutlass? Is it medium quality as well, or, say medium + ? Is it worth my purchasing? I really like the look of it and it would make an excellent still life painting. I just joined Sword Forums and I'm learning now just how much junk really is out there. It's going to take me about a year of lurking there just to get my bearings.

MOST of the stuff MR sells seems like decent stuff, I have a couple weapons from them... but their prices seem a bit high on some things. I personaly havn't seen their cutlass so I dunno... however I know that ren-fair and reenactment guys use their swords for "sword on sword combat" and stage work, so they have to hold up somewhat, eh?

Thanks for the info.
I joined Sword Forums and they said that that particular piece (the cutlass) was made by Windlass which, according to them, is a good, dependable low cost manufacturer of functional Euro. swords. I got a much better link for their stuff, though, from a long term poster:
