Star Trek XI: Romulan Wars?

Tycoon Guy writes "TrekToday reports that the next Star Trek movie will deal with the war between Earth and the Romulans that led to the founding of the Federation. According to Rick Berman, the film will be 'set before the time of Kirk, but will not be connected with Enterprise.' So how will they make this fit with the Classic Trek episode Balance of Terror, in which we learned that no human ever saw the face of a Romulan during the Romulan Wars?"

There was a spoof on the radio last week about the new Trek movie. Locutus of Borg was giving his speel but Beavis (or Butthead) was telling Locutus how he needed TP for his bunghole, etc. Quite funny eh!

Sounds like they can't get any of the name actors from the series so they're going another way with this. My opinion:

I suppose they could see the Romulans, but their ship is destroyed before a copy of the logs were sent to Starfleet, so nobody knew that they actually saw the Romulans.

It's an intruiging storyline but I think Star Trek is dying in this regard and they are just using the Star Trek name to get some profit in it for Paramount. A movie with a similar plot could be used without any reference to Star Trek. That way, if it sucks, there wont be yet again more negative media coverage to a dying Star Trek empire.

Yes, Star Trek is great. But after 37 years, 700+ episodes, 6 series and 10 movies?

Yeah, it's hard to imagine that there's much life left in the concept. It's dead, Jim.
