Although I feel terrible for the folks who paid a huge wad of cash to see him this weekend and are going to be disappointed, I don't feel sorry for the promoters of SFX/CNAnime?Whatever.

Yes, these are the same folks who have churned out an expo that continues to sell illegal weapons, crowds people in shuffle step only isleways, and charges too much money for the priviledge to buy stuff from dealers of whom you can visit for free a few blocks away.

Yeah, this is also the same company that individual who sent me that very not nice letter when I was reapeatedly clear I was not interested in his solicitations:

The only regret I have about this postponement is that it is a kick in the pants of Toronto Area fandom. However, considering who it happened too, a company that has caused quite a bit of disappointment to many in the community, I really had a bit of an evil chuckle over it.

I certainly hope the people who paid their cash for this get accomodated with either full refunds or an even better showing later with Patrick Stewart.

From the official website:
Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, Patrick Stewart has had to postpone his appearance at this year's Expo. We were informed late last night and at this time are unable to disclose the exact details of the situation pending instructions from Mr.Stewart's team. The show Manager, Aman Gupta, will be speaking to Patrick Stewart ticket holders on Saturday, Aug. 28th at 4:30pm to go over any more details if they are available. Mr. Stewart has promised to return to Toronto to make up his appearance in September 2004 to do something special for his fans. We apologize for the situation, and we hope you enjoy our attempts to enhance your experience at the Expo with the additions of Michael Dorn and LeVar Burton.

According to a post on TTMB, there was a raid on SFX and those dealers selling illegal weapons got busted :D

Update:

Indeed Miko is correct:

See this ...

Karma really does work.

They had the chance to hear me and deal with a serious concern for public safety

If they had any integrity they would have at least checked up on a table full of metal things to see what was there - especially in light of the hostage situation earlier in the week right down the f#cking street.

Those idiots at the expo don't really seem to care at all for public safety - and this only proves my concerns further... unfortunately, especially since their conduct tends to reflect poorly on the entire convention communtiy of Toronto.

It's sad, but in the words of Nelson Muntz from Simpsons

HA - HAA !

Miko, I suck for a decent connection right now, can you save that to hard copy and burn it for me?

If you can ship it, I can pay you for it :D

It's in ASX format, and when I save it, it saves right away, even though its HUGE. So I think it's only saving the link to the video and not the video itself. Not sure how to get around that.

I found it humourous that one of the Toronto guys arrested said that "all they were doing was selling a few swords from people's favourite movies until someone complained, they werent even sharp at all"
