Before you start slagging me off. BRG is not a trainspotter!;)
This is again from my holiday in York, where they have the National railway Museum.
Admission is free, so even if trains are not your thing, anyone can spend a rainy afternoon in there, and it is actually pretty interesting.
First pic is a early 60's Bullet Train from Japan.
I just thought it looked way too cool to be a train, so I had to take a pic.:)
It look's like something out of Buck Rogers!
BRG
This one is called The Mallard, a British steam locomotive.
It is another cool looking train, right up there with that sci-fi looking Bullet Train!:)
Apparently, this was the fastest train in the world in her day.
BRG
PS-notice Buck Rogers space ship peeking out of the left of the pic!;)
This is a replica Stephenson's Rocket, a very early steam engine.
BRG
And finally, a big ugly 1970's British deisel locomotive!:D

Ahhhh, steam locos.
Nice pics. There's some guys over at trains.com that would absolutely drool all over themselves looking at those pictures.
You just don't realize how BIG those things are until you're standing next to them.
BTW, BRG, nothing wrong with trainspotting. I don't myself, but I am building a model railroad in my garage.
BRG there is a small railway museum not to far form were I live . Nothing like you got pics of ! I will have to go when it reopens in the spring they put there trains they have rebuilt on displays outside . Then they pick one and you get to ride it to the next town were they have an old station .
My dad worked all his life on the Rail Road I spent alot of time around the yard . I still like watching a train go by . I worked the yard at PPG taking cars in unloading them taking them back out for pick up on a track mobile . the hardest part was set the rail wheels down on the tracks . If not you could slip off the tracks . I did once I put down the regular wheels and got the track mobile back on the tracks . I work in the wareroom now I miss it sometimes .I have to admit I don't miss trying to stop on snow and ice covered tracks I almost got sandwiched between to rail cars once !

All bright and shiny like that it looks like it would be at home in any steampunk movie.
