6 series, 8 movies, a gazillion books.
The Trek universe has been around for 40 years. Has it finally worn out?

View Full Version : Should Star Trek continue? Silent Bob 12-15-2006, 01:13 PM 6 series, 8 movies, a gazillion books. The Trek universe has been around for 40 years. Has it finally worn out? Miko 12-15-2006, 01:22 PM Yes. Where's the poll? Silent Bob 12-15-2006, 01:23 PM Added :) arnisador 12-15-2006, 01:55 PM It can still be reinvented for a new audience. BRG 12-15-2006, 01:57 PM Yes, it should continue. But it needs a good long break from TV & cinema to re-energise the fanbase- like the 10 years between the end of TOS until the first film. I think it should be put on hold until the 50th anniversary in 2016, by that time we will be gagging for new Star Trek. Then have a big buget movie, followed by a new TV series. BRG Wolf Braun 12-15-2006, 02:51 PM I went with yes. BRG's got a point though, let the network/studio drought continue for a while though, to build up the energy. In the meantime though, Trek wil never die as long as there are fans to keep it alive on the net. Bryan R 12-15-2006, 04:16 PM I am on BRG side here - minimum wait until 2011 that is a 45 year anniversary and then look at bringing Star Trek back with fresh ideas/stories. iseijinryoushi 12-15-2006, 04:24 PM OK, who is the red shirt that voted no. I give you 5 seconds when you hit the planet. ;) Randalt 12-15-2006, 05:34 PM It is continuing, with the online game due in 2007/08 (cross fingers they don't muck it up :)) |
