Why in the world would you move to TAXachusetts?!?! lol
Your neighbor to the north in tax-free New Hampshire. :D
unowhoandwhy 12-18-2006, 06:04 PM PS - There is a service called Frappr (http://www.frappr.com/) that we could get an account on & everyone could log in their places. I have done it for a couple sites I belong to on the Net.

There is a degree at Umass I want. Living in Mass will be expensive I know :), but I did some looking and I can actually buy a place that is bigger than what I currently own that is over 50k less than I paid for my place. That is basically my second mortgage and having that money in my wallet every month instead of in the banks wallet would help a lot even if I then have to pay more in taxes. I debated N.H. but that would make my commute to work too long....I am all about the short commute, I'd rather have a short commute than pay less in taxes!
warhammerdriver 12-18-2006, 10:39 PM OK, I think I have this figured out.
The pushpins are everyone who has posted in this thread. Unfortunately, the image isn't interactive. If you want a copy of my Google Earth overlay file, pm me with your email and I'll send it to ya.

There may be more that post on the site, but unless they post in this thread I won't put them on the map. I'm taking their post in this thread as "permission" to map them.

Dj Kitty 01-31-2007, 12:07 AM I currently reside in London Ont. woot....woot??
err...ahem.
London!:) First City of the Empire and the center of human civilisation.
Indeed, my wee brother lives in London as a British Army soldier, defending Queen & country from the foreign hordes!;)
He lives with his wife in the St Johns Wood area, he is currantly on a 2 year posting at the MoD in Whitehall, and his wife is on her last year as a student nurse at KCL.
I'm hoping to go down and visit them sometime, but trying to get our holidays matched is a bugger. I'm into photography, so I'd love to go and photograph the landmarks of the capital. And they have said they would take me round all the museums & galleries.
Hopefully we can work something out later on in the year.

LONDON......IN CANADA!?!:o :D Surely not Batman!;)
Bloody foreigners! Can they not come up with city names of your own that you have to steal ours? The decent thing would be to at lest call the place New London.
As you can see, I did not see the ONT after London, and just assumed it was our London. And made myself look like a horses arse!:vb_redfac :D :vb_bluebl

BRG the history Of London and the Aisles if you think about offer one of the best records of different time periods . The Aisles were cut of form the know world till the Romans set foot on them and Hadron was unwilling to take on the Scott's .
Where else can you have an Iron age Burial Mound in a farm field or a simple Garden may have a Roman house buried under it , Castles and simple keeps also . There is no telling what is still undiscovered there ! Like what is concealed at Roslyn Chapple .

In British Columbia we have Surrey, New Westminster, Richmond, Langley, In Ontario there is Kent, Sudbury, Kingston, Stratford, Cornwall, Windsor, etc. that come immediately to mind, there is even a Liverpool in Nova Scotia. I'm pretty sure that every province in Canada has British place names. I would think that these names were chosen as a way to make the original settlers feel less homesick or an exhibit of national pride?
unowhoandwhy 02-07-2007, 01:03 PM A lot of place names were also chosen to honor whatever rich benefactor they felt they owed something to back in the old country. Such as Pennsylvania for William Penn, Charleston for King Charles, etc.

I read the comic For Better or Worse and I remember when Mike went to College in London, Most people thought it was London, England. :D
Rigel 02-12-2007, 08:55 PM LOL I love that series as well, TheaFaye ;)
My location: Dallas, TX
We have a bunch of small cities here that have "stolen" names from other states/countries as well: Italy, Paris, Palestine, New London, Victoria, Edinburg, Greenville, Jacksonville, etc.
I think it was a way for many settlers to keep a piece of home with them.
