I'm considering opening my own photo studio and looking for information on what you as a customer look for when considering one. Where have you gone, what have you liked and not liked about it. If you're a regular somewhere, what do you love about the place that makes you go back, and if you've ever had a bad experience, what was it?
Thank you!

I admittedly have never gone at least not as an adult, did a few family pics growing up though....I would say if I was going now, I would at the minimum want
a) a decent amount of background choices
b) lots of differnt options to decide how many and what size of prints to get
c) reasonable price
d)ability to take at least a few pics and choose the best one would be a bonus
e) added bonus to me would also be a changing area so if you did take 2 or 3 pics for me to choose from, I could change
Although admittedly the taking multiple pics and having to choose from would require customer to either come back and choose or you to mail proofs, but if you make them pay up front at least half you shouldn't loose any money on those customers...

I agree with Ping's points.
I would have the pictures available on the web or CD for review. I'm sure it is getting harder with all the services available now with the use of digital cameras.
Our dojo has someone come in and take the kids pictures and offers photo packages, key chains, etc. You may want to partner with an online company that can provide custom gifts like that. I have seen blankets, pillows, and even shower curtains made from photos.
