View Full Version : NFL Playoffs- Who will win the Superbowl?
Simple question which BRG askes every year at playoff time. Who will go all the way?:)
The defending champs Pittsburgh Steelers fell by the wayside this year, as did my two teams- the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins. Will it be one of the favorites this year, of like the Steelers last year, will a outsider go on a dream run right to the sumit?:D
AFC
San Diego- The top team in the AFC with the first round bye & home field advantage. But they have never been the top dog, and may not have the stuff to take the Colts.
Baltimore- Always solid and always in with a shout.
New England- Aye, they always turn up at the sharp end! May not be the superpower of a few years back, but have more than enough to win it all.
Indianapolis- Have at times looked invincable over the past two seasons, but usually bottle it when it counts.
New York Jets- An outsider, but can the Jets sweep through to the big game?
Kansas City- Weakest team on paper in the AFC, but I've always liked the Chiefs. They can always suprise.
NFC
Chicago- The Bears are back! And at times they looked like the great 80's team. With number 1 spot and home field, they will take some stopping.
New Orleans-:o New Orleans....playoffs....surly a mistake here Batman!:o You see more of Halles Comet than you do of New Orleans in January!;) Still, it would be a nice story to see that city win the big prize.:)
Philadelphia- Always good the Eagles, should have had a few Superbowls in the bag, yet they always seem to be in the shadow of the Cowboys, Redskins & Giants. Will this finally be their year.
Seattle- Superbowl finalist last year, but their bottle went against the Steelers in a game they should have won. I can't see the lifting it this year either, but you never know.
Dallas- Grrrrr:mad: The hated Cowboys. Always in the mix, and always getting all the headlines. This bitter redskins fan hopes the fail miserably, but knows you never discount Dallas.
New York Giants- I don't believe it! Every team in the NFC East makes the playoffs except my Redskins! Should not be good enough, but like New England & Dallas, they are a team you can never write off.
BRG
Wild Cards
Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks
New York Jets at New England Patriots
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
This year I've been getting the same vibes as 1985/86! So I reckon the Chicago Bears will finally win it all again.;)

Bryan R 01-03-2007, 12:37 PM My prediction is Baltimore Ravens vs New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl
My Prediction on winner is: BALTIMORE RAVENS
My Predicted Score is: Baltimore 20 vs New Orleans 17
ping898 01-03-2007, 01:02 PM Well I voted for the Giants....I don't really expect them to win, they have a knck for loosing but they are my team and I feel I should vote for them!
unowhoandwhy 01-03-2007, 01:22 PM I live in New England & could care less about football (although I do have a fondness for watching quarterbacks run ;) ), but I voted for the home team, just to be loyal. :D
Kansas City 8-23 Indianapolis
Dallas 20-21 Seattle
NY Jets 16-37 New England
NY Giants 20-23 Philadelphia
So!:D
The Wild Card weekend is out of the way, and the great news is the thrice-hated Cowboys fell at the first hurdle! SWEET!!!:)
4 game each giving 4 home winners.
The divisional games this weekend, when the big hitters enter the arena.;)
BRG
Divisional
Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints
Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears
New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers

Personally I am cheering for the 4 following teams (so if you are gambling on these games I recommend choosing the opposite!).
BALTIMORE RAVENS
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
(If you are counting I am cheering for 3 home teams and 1 visiting team!)
I'm with you on 3 of them, but I could not support the Seattle Seahawks.
It that hidious uniform they wear now! A strange grey/blue with flashes of floresant lime green- pass the sick bag to BRG please!
I really liked their old colours- blue & sliver with wee touches of green. It really suited the name Seahawks.:)
I still think the Bears will win it, but I'm cheering on San Diego!:D

ping898 01-08-2007, 02:58 PM So 2 of the 3 teams I root for blew it this weekend....no real surprise....I'll have to think about who to root for now....I am torn between the chargers and the bears...
theafaye 01-08-2007, 04:37 PM uh yeah New England Pats. Dang gum Jags did not make it. *sigh*
unowhoandwhy 01-09-2007, 02:54 PM So... when is the Superbowl? lol I want to see the Patriots win again. :)
Indianapolis 15-6 Baltimore
Philadelphia 24-27 New Orleans
Seattle 24-27 Chicago
New England 24-21 San Diego
Well, it is certainly getting interesting now!:) And a marked contrast between the conferances.
In the NFC, the two to seeds came through at home- the Bears & Saints. While in the AFC, the top seeds crashed out at home to the two teams who have dominated that conferance for the past few seasons- the Colts & Pats.
And all the gmes were close, less than 10pts in each, hopefully this means we are in for a classic and close Superbowl!
Championship round next. I think the Bears should cruise into the final, but you never know. And the Colts Vs Pats is a match which would be worthy of the Superbowl itself.:D

So... when is the Superbowl? lol I want to see the Patriots win again. :)
Hey Uno!:D
The big game is on Feb 4 from Dolphins Stadium in sunny Miami.:)
And your Patriots are only one game away from the Superbowl, although it is a really tough road game at Indianapolis, who BRG reckons are the best team in the AFC.
However, New England are a team who know how to win championships, and like all great teams, there is a supreme arrogance about them which can overwelm opponents- and the Colts have a history of losing their bottle in big games.;)
As the game is on through the night in the UK, BRG will have to try and get the Monday off after the game. If not, I will have to record it, but there is always some loud mouthed prick in the work who goes round the place shouting out the result. This happened to me when I taped the final game of this years World Series.
BRG
unowhoandwhy 01-15-2007, 12:50 PM I actually watched a bit of the Pats game last night, which is not like me at all! But, there was nothing good on TV & I was too lazy to get off the couch & put on a DVD.
Go Pats!
SWEET!:)
BRG managed to get his last week of holidays fitted in for Superbowl week! Which means I can sit up all night, surround myself with food, and really enjoy the game. Then I sleep past midday on the Monday morning to recover!:D
Of corse, this is on the assumption that it will be shown on terrestrial TV. SKY- the subscription sat channel, have main rights to the NFL. However two TV channels shair free-to-air secondary rights- Five, who show regular season games(2 live a week). And ITV, who have play-off rights. ITV only show recorded highlights of the playoff games, but usually air the Superbowl live. So I should be OK, but fingers crossed anyway!;)

London to host NFL regular season game!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/american_football/6248825.stm
Hey, more good news.:)
Wembley Stadium in London has been chosen as the venue for the first NFL regular season game to be held outside North America in 2007, beating of stiff competition from a number of German cities.
It will be a Miami Dolphins home game, probably against the New York Giants, although no date has been set.
I assume the Dolphins were chosen as they have always been by far the best supported team in the UK.
Wembley used to host an annual NFL exhibition game called The American Bowl, this fixture was held throughout the 80s & 90s, and always drew a huge crowd. And this match should also sell out, and the New Wembley is one of the best stadiums on Earth, with a capacity of 90,000.
It should be good!:)
BRG
unowhoandwhy 01-16-2007, 11:28 AM 90,000 PEOPLE IN ONE STADIUM?!?! Wow... that's crazy! Good news for you, though, BRG!
New Orleans 14-39 Chicago
New England 34-38 Indianapolis
Its the Colts V Bears everyone!:D
The two teams who every expert predicted would make the Superbowl early in the season, until they hit some bumps on the road in the later part of the year.
Pity New Orleans never got there. Like most neutrals, I would have enjoed seeing that city gain some glory after what they have suffered, yet they can be proud of a great season.
And the once invincible Patriots finally get their cumuppance. Normaly it is New England who are the ones dishing out the unbelievable last gasp victories.
But I think we have the right teams in the final. The Bears were the best in the NFC. And while not top dog in the AFC this year, over the past two seasons the Colts have been by far the best team in the whole league.

Bryan R 01-22-2007, 11:07 AM Since I am not a fan of either team...I will still have to "root" for one of them..
GO BEARS GO!!
(For all you bettors/poolies out there - this means take the Colts - I am always wrong!!)
theafaye 01-22-2007, 11:22 AM *sigh* Pats lost. Now who do I root for? Colts is out, just not a fan. I guess the bears. I can root for the team and still not like the QB right? ;) Sorry not a fan of Grossman. He went to UF, I am an avid FSU fan. just does not mesh well. lol
unowhoandwhy 01-22-2007, 01:58 PM I will have to root for the team that didn't beat the Pats butts... :( So, the Bears it is! Not that I plan on watching the Superbowl, I only watch when the Pats play.
I have the same problem, I'm not a fan of either team.
I suppose I could go by the colour of their uniforms.
Indianapolis wear a nice Blue & white which is the same colours as my beloved local football(soccer) team Kilmarnock FC.:)
But Chicago wear dark blue- Scottish blue!:)
Indeed, we have a conundrum.:o
I'm going to have to side with the Colts, simply because Amberstar is supporting them and I don't know of any member who support Chicago.
Stick with your friends.;)
BRG
ping898 01-22-2007, 02:19 PM Its the Colts here....I have a ranked list of 5 teams I root for and the Colts is number 4 on the list...number 5 is whoever is playing against the Pats ;)
warhammerdriver 01-26-2007, 10:43 PM The Bears. I'm actually surprised that Peyton hasn't choked this year--yet.
BlueDragon1981 01-31-2007, 01:06 AM I'm just glad the steelers or patriots are there. Oh yeah and I loath the Cowboys.. so i'm glad they are not there.
Indianapolis Colts 29-17 Chicago Bears
Yes boys & girls, the Indianapolis Colts are the new Superbowl Champions, after a dominant display agaist a sadly under-par Chicago in a windswept and sodden Dolphins stadium!:)
Although Chicago started like a house on fire, once MVP Peyton Manning and the Colts settled, their was only ever one winner. Infact, if the Colts had turned possesion into points, they would have been out of site by half time, the Bears defence worked wonders to keep their team in the game for as long as they did. Unfortunatly, they must have been well nackered by the 4th quarter, as the Bears offence could not put two plays together.
A unwanted mention must go to Bears QB Rex Grossman, who was bloody awful last night.:( I know the conditions were terrible for American Football, but to twice drop a snap, and twice throw into double coverage for an interception is simply not good enough.
So congratulations to Indianapolis!:D The best team in the NFL for a few years now, and they have finaly put it all together for a title.

arnisador 02-05-2007, 01:10 PM We'd celebrate here in Indiana if we weren't so very cold!!!
We'd celebrate here in Indiana if we weren't so very cold!!!
Can you not just do what those lunatics do up in Green Bay? You know, dance about wearing only a thong, body paint, and a lump of cheese on your head?:o ;)
But well done, you won easily. And as I said, if it wern't for the Bears defence, it could have been an absolute rout.:)
BRG
theafaye 02-05-2007, 03:53 PM Actually Rex can not blame it on the weather... He played in Florida for 4 years. lol It is a great feat though, he has only been pro for a short amount of time and he has already gone to the Superbowl. That is pretty impressive.
