I just tried out Wizkids new Pirate "CCG"... it was amusing and fun.

You buy packs of Cards like a CCG, but the cards are plastic and you punch out the parts to build the ships... you then use rulers and stats on the cards to move your ships from Island card to Island card, and capture treasure. If you encounter an opposing force ship, you do combat with 6 sided dice.

Overall its fun, and a pack of ships is only 4 bucks... enough to start a small scale game. When you are done, you can dissasemble your ship and pop it back into its card for ease of transportation. Fun times!

We had a Piratey Christmas, with Myself, Shinji and Jetboatdeath all getting a bunch of these cards, (and some of the expansion sets)

They really do make for a fast, fun (when Jetboatdeath isnt cheating) entertaining wargame that costs virtually nothing (Toys R Us has/had Colletors tins full of packs, you got 4 per tin for 10 bucks, much less than the 4 bucks a pack for singles and you get 8 boats) and provides hours of fun. (when Jetboatdeath isn't cheating)

I have a fleet of 15 boats now... a couple big 5 mast ships, a few large 4 masters, a bunch of little 3 2 and 1 mast guys too.

Anyone else played this? Thoughts? Opinions?

Other than Jetboatdeath of course, unless he needs to comment on how to cheat...

My kids were really into this for a few months, but their interest dropped off. (Of course, we still have many 'ships' around!) We learned recently that there's a similar auto racing game.

Sounds cool. I particularly like the fact that it's a game that doesn't require a computer - aids in building the imagination faster, IMHO. So many people today, especially those born after 1980, have never even PLAYED regular non-computer games. :)
