Personally, I like Pokemon better. You'll see my vote to Pokemon first :P

I've read my first 2 installments of 'YGO' in 'Shonen Jump,' and I immediately fell in love with it. Too bad the anime is all CGI, no cels to collect! :o

Pokemon gives my migraines.

Hate em both. I hate those types of shows. The only thing that redeems card caprtor sakura is KERO-CHAN

I started watching Pokemon years ago and I still watch every new episode. :) I only watched the few episodes of Yugioh and they seemed weird to me. I really didn't like the big adult voice of the kid when he 'changed'. It just didn't seem to fit the cartoony character. :(

By the way, I hear it used all the time but what does the word "peeps" really mean? And where did it come from all of a sudden?

Robyn

I don't know, they both have their faults. XD

Pokemon was really good and enjoyable back in the day, but then it started getting repetitive and redundant -- like there's always a new league that Ash/Satoshi can enter... it's a vicious never ending cycle of "Collect new badges, catch new Pokemon", become a Pokemon Master (but judging on how the series is going, how exactly is he going to achieve this?)

Yu-Gi-Oh started off with such a simple plot, a card game, a champion, blah. But suddenly now comes in the deeper plot; "L'intrigue se corse!" The problems of Ancient Egypt arise and now there's more to just losing a game.. but I think the major weakness is that no matter how I look at it... it's still just only a game, and has no real impact to the rest of the world. Well.. apparently there's something to do with world domination (I don't follow the show, sorry), but if that's so, the only people who can do anything are the card players -- and I find that really unjustifying.

All in all, I picked neither.

I started watching Pokemon because of my then 2-year old daughter. Now 4, she still loves the show.

Here's something odd:

Gary Oak is (I believe) Professor Oak's grandson.

Professor Oak and Ash's mom are very friendly.

If Professor Oak married Ash's mom, Ash would be Gary's daddy.

... I don't think so... Daddy implies that Gary is a biological spawn of Ash (well, we know it's not biological) but even making it step-dad... that kinda implies that Ash resumed ownership of 'raising' Gary -- which is the role of a Dad/Father.

If anything... I'm not entirely sure where this falls, but he might be a great uncle of sorts...

Someone know?

Ash? Don't you mean Oak?

It'd be more of step-dad, but that would add a whole new level of tension between Ash and Gary (hey! fanfic idea! thanks guys!)

...but in the newest season of pokemon (that co-incides with ruby/sapphire games) half the characters are gone. misty is gone!!!!!!!!!!!! That tension with misty and ash is what kept the series going at times! they can't nix her! *grr*

as long as jesse, james, and meowth are still there...

They got rid of Brock before, and he came back. We'll have to wait and see, unless someone here has seen the Japanese release and knows how it ends up.

The kids were into Pokemon, so I played the card game with them, watched it on TV and at the movies, and played the GameBoy games with them. I actually liked the GameBoy games.
