I know some fans of Atlantis are here and I thought they would be interested in hearing some of the cast changes in the next season (4).

On the plus side, Atlantis will be getting a new doctor played by Jewel Staitt, formerly from Firefly.

Also Samantha Carter will be on Atlantis for about 14 episodes.

On the negative side.... sadly Dr Beckett is getting the axe. They are letting the actor go.

And Elizabeth Weir will no longer be a main character. The actress will only have a recurring role.

Also the Wraith will no longer be the main bad guy. Instead Carter is joining Atlantis and bringing her own ship. And they are going to go to war against the new Ancient Replicants which were introduced in the last episode to air in the USA. And this war will be the main story for the series.

HAHA....very true, but the last doctor Stargate killed off that I liked they didn't bring back :(....
With luck he'll just sort of disappear from the story line or be sent back to earth and not killed off...

They already aired the last episode with Dr Beckett in Canada. Canada has aired about half a dozen episodes we haven't seen yet of Atlantis.

His fate is definitely part of the storyline.

Some minor spoilers below:
Dr Becket does indeed die in the episode #314 "Sunday." It's not ambiguous like Dr Jackson's ascension. It's a definite end to the character. Unless you count cloning or parallel dimensions. But he does get a very good final episode to go out in.

And I liked him too. I think it's sad they couldn't make better use of him. He was the most good hearted person on the show. I think the writers could have done more with him.

And Elizabeth Weir will no longer be a main character. The actress will only have a recurring role.

I never really liked Weir anyway. I think the actress doesn't fit the role well.

More minor spoilers...

Yep, Sunday aired on Monday. He got blown up, funeral happened and everything. But, there was a little foreshadowing to open up some possibility of a reappearance.

The episode ends with Rodney out on the deck looking out on the ocean talking to Becket (dream) and he says something along the lines of "The universe is a big place, maybe we'll bump into each other again." Becket agrees that its possible.

It was a dream, but they did leave a little bit of a open door.

I can't wait for the new SciFi Friday season.
