This is my first post on this site. I'm just getting back into fandom two years following a stroke that struck me down at the age of 46.

I have to say that Star Trek was one of the few things that kept me sane during the months I was in rehabilitation following the stroke. The Catholic chaplain at the facility I was in turned out to be an old comrade who used to work Star Trek con security with me back in the 1980s. This kindred spirit kept me going at a time when it would've been easy to simply give up and roll over.

I just celebrated my second year of victory over the stroke, and in trying to start a new career have just finished my 75th short article, an e-book, and am starting my fourth article for website that specializes in vintage recipes.

Here's to all the others who been able to overcome adversity and prove to the world that we differently abled kinds can still make a valuable contribution. Qapla'!!

Sometimes it really IS worth the effort to gnaw through the leather straps every morning.

May I also add my greetings, and the very best of wishes....and, to a fellow Trekker, in particular! Yours truly is no newbie to Roddenberry's unequalled creation. I met George Takei in '89. Nice fellow.Have met Jennifer(Kes) Lien, as well. My fave female character. But, will always love Classic, and the Big Three.I could go on. Don't tempt me!! Maybe later! By all means, post a message on my page, or if you like, would welcome an e-mail. I've been living in almost a Trek isolation, fan-wise. Until I got the net.take care, and see you down the road here, and there. Trekguy.
