So what if Trekkies are "geeks" or "outcasts".. no need to **** everyone else in the town out of some good tourist dollars. These people just can't see the bigger picture. (Assuming these are townspeople, usually this sort of thing doesn't come from Trekkies, from cons I've been to)
Spock Days ruffians taint festivities

It only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch and that was the case with the Spock Days weekend held June 8 to 10. Some of the attendees decided to cut a swath of destruction through Vulcan on the weekend that leaves a bad taste in the mouths of those who invested time in
organizing the event.
The most damage was done at the CRC after the cabaret on June 9. Some patrons decided to start fights both inside and outside the CRC which led to the damage. Inside the CRC men’s washroom, toilet paper and paper towel holders were ripped off the walls and outside, people were throwing cans and bottles
at vehicles.
“It makes it really hard,” said Grant Shaw, coordinator of the cabaret, “it gives the cabaret and Spock Days a bad name.”
There is no estimate on the damage that has been done at the CRC but Shaw noted the Spock Days committee will pay for it to be fixed directly.
“(This kind of activity) makes our job really difficult,” Shaw said, “we do this to bring people and money into the community.”
Shaw’s main concern was being able to find a venue for next year’s Spock Days cabaret as well as finding volunteers to help with the event.
“The cabaret funds most of the rest of the Spock Days events,” Shaw said.
There have also been some reports of vandalism and bar fights throughout town as well.
There is some light in the dark however, according to Dayna Dickens, Vulcan Tourism Coordinator.
A couple of thousand people went through the Tourism and Trek Station through the weekend and the media coverage went international for Spock Days and Galaxyfest. News coverage extended into countries such as Australia, China, Paris, India and more.
If you have any information on who may have committed these or any crimes throughout the Spock Days and Galaxyfest weekend, you are urged to call the Vulcan RCMP at 485-2267 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
