So, I talked my boss into buying a DVD RW drive for the computer at work (we do actually sorta kinda need one... occasionally... :D ) and I have great plans for bringing in some of my favorite DVDs and getting loads of screencaps from them (I can't WAIT to get "300" delivered when it comes out!!!).

That brings me to my question: can anyone recommend a good cheap (or free) program that will make screencaps. I have been making some from a few of the iTunes eps I have, but it is a laborious manual process and I was looking for something a little easier and more automatic.

Any suggestions?

You can use MS paint that comes with your computer

Alt + prt screen

then ctrl+v into it.

Save as JPG

...and oh yes, 300 on DVD YUM!

I know that a lot of DVD player software such as Power DVD and WinDVD whoch come bundled with many drives have a screen cap button... you play the movie, get to the screen you wanna cap, and hit the button and it autosaves the image for you.

I do it all the time in PowerDVD and its a one-touch process.

I guess I was just trying to be lazy. :) I talked to a few people who have expensive programs that auto screen cap things & you end up with hundreds or thousands of pictures with just a couple clicks of the mouse and wondered if there was a free (or really cheap) option out there.

Unless you are running a porn site and need that many images to sell from your videos what possible reason could even an uber-fan need with 1000's of screen caps from a single movie???

lol... I wasn't thinking of thousands! More like dozens or hundreds, maybe. As for a porn site, I don't own a computer and I am pretty sure I would lose my job if I started hosting a porn site on the police department's computer. :P

But it would make a hell of a good news story!

I tried the print screen method and googled for other related work arounds, but this program works very well for me. Oh and it's free.
