Sorry to disappoint you, at one time you may have been correct in your financial assessment of my beanie collection. Sad to say that many of them...even the rare ones...I doubt would pay for that trip. If it would...hmmmm, that would be very tempting.....LOL!

Very very true my lady...we might just have to sell about 250 of your Beanie Babies on eBay to afford the trip/autographs!! :D

:D @ Kenny G!!

It is not "my arm" you will have to twist for this roadtrip!! ;)

Great Star Trek Guest Lineup already and they still haven't announced their main Sunday Guest and in their forums they say a couple more bonus guests to come (they may not be Star Trek mind you)!

Wow isn't that something, a convention 7 months out and they have 4 guests announced already and I would say:

1 BNG Guest (Tier I) - Patrick Stewart
2 MNG Guest (Tier II) - Robert Picardo & Ethan Phillips
1 ONG Guest (Tier III) - Anthony Montgomery (you could argue Tier II on this one - just my opinion on Tier III)

BNG = Big Name Guest, MNG = Medium Named Guest, ONG = OK Named Guest

Sounds like a "local" convention should take some notes on this.

Don't look at me....it's not my "rubber arm" that you would have to twist! LOL! The desire to go is not in question....being able to justify the costs of flying all the way to Orlando for 3 days and NOT having enough time to enjoy other attractions and having to commit to it now....that's a whole other story. Aaaah, it would be nice to see Patrick Stewart though!

I see that when Judy said they were trying to get Linda Park that in fact it was true! You know that I would never stand in your way to see your beloved "Hoshi" BUT if you go to Florida and get to see Patrick Stewart AGAIN without ME....well, let's just say that you might have "explaining to do!" LOL!

Maybe some of the other rumours that we've heard will come true and she'll be appearing at a convention close to home this summer....fingers crossed!

Big changes for the line-up at this convention, seems like Patrick Stewart has had to cancel out of both his planned conventions that weekend!! :(

Cancellation:
Patrick Stewart

BUT, this con has added.......

Jolene Blalock
T'Pol
Star Trek Enterprise

She is to replace Patrick Stewart and his appearance on Sunday only.

Actually I would say 1 of the 4 good points about Enterprise IMO (Jolene's count for 2) ;) and then Linda Park and Porthos!! :)

Here is an interesting letter from the Promotor of the Vulkon conventions regarding the Patrick Stewart cancellation.

I give him credit mind you for his honesty. I was also a little surprised that Jolene Blalock is not seen as an adequate replacement for Patrick Stewart and I was stunned thatshe demands more money than Patrick Stewart as appearance fee!! (She is a "bit actor" with big boobs! watch her change her tune in a few years when her looks and attitude can't get her the jobs!).

I am betting going forward they will "fall in line with other conventions and adopt a "No Refund" policy.

"My Dear Vulkon Patrons,

It is with deep regret that Vulkon Entertainment can not issue anymore refunds for the November Orlando event. Please bear with me for the next few minutes and read on!

How do I replace God, yes - Patrick Stewart, I can’t, there is nobody in the entire Star Trek Universe of actors who can replace him.

When I approached Jolene Blalock last Monday, I honestly thought I was doing the best I could, given the circumstances I was put under by the loss of Patrick. But it seems I could not have been more wrong!

Yes, Jolene has done only one convention in the USA for Creation in California and I personally thought that she would be the best choice for replacing Patrick as everyone else has been seen at recent past Vulkon events by you the fans, except for maybe Scott Bakula, and he for now has decided not to do conventions.

Jolene wanted an even higher appearance fee than Patrick, which really was impossible as the events fees were already set and there was no money in the budget for a much greater fee; however I decided to do it anyway to please you - my patrons.

However, I expected only about 100 to 150 cancellations max, but apparently I was wrong as those numbers have been surpassed and are still climbing. And the irony is that new registrations are coming in at a pace of only one for every 20 cancellations. I guess now I understand why Enterprise was canceled, low viewer-ship for the show translates to fewer fans for conventions (and I understand whole heartily since I’m a big Next Generation fan) but now this has become my greatest mistake in 25 years of doing conventions!

The problem now is that to be able to pay Jolene Blalock’s and Linda Park’s fees, as most of the money has already been laid out to the hotel, airfares, etc; I only have available enough money to pay these two guests fees, but nothing left for any further refunds. With all the cancellations, downgrades from Gold to Deluxe or just plain General Admission, I can not give out anymore refunds as these financial obligations have to be met, there is no way around it short of canceling the show, and we cannot do that as it would leave everyone still attending in the lurch - as well as the stars and hotel.

What hurts me even more about the many patron cancellations are that they are coming from many of the most hard core Vulkon fans and fans in general that live with 50 miles from Orlando, who for the most part will not even have hotel expenses! Every other convention promoter in the USA has an “absolutely no refunds policy”, although some do have a credit to a future convention clause, but I always believed this was not fair to the fans, and now this strong belief and commitment to my patrons - may be the ultimate doom of Vulkon Entertainment! (The other event that had Patrick Stewart the same weekend as we did for example, is NOT offering refunds at all.)

Vulkon has always tried to be different and more fan friendly towards its fans, financially and otherwise than other conventions, but now it is likely that these "other conventions" will now survive because of their "no refund rules", and we might not be able to exist after the November convention.

I understand it is hard not to be able to receive a refund, money is hard to come by nowadays especially, and being a fan and business person I’ve always tried to keep the prices affordable, it was not until several years ago when the convention promoter for Slanted Fedora decided he would get any guest star he wanted at any price and started paying some stars outrageous fees, (much more than the average), that the stars basically said," I was paid that much by Slanted Fedora so you have to pay me the same". This was the major cause for ALL conventions to have to dramatically raise their admission prices!

Enough said, I want you to know that even with the money shortage problem - I am still working on adding a Next Generation Guest Star (to fill the Next Gen Void), that has not been to FL in a long time, so please keep your fingers crossed.

As this email is being sent only to registered fans of this show, I respectfully ask and I plead: please don’t cancel or downgrade your ticket, as you were already planning on coming, so come and enjoy yourselves. Our programming and guest Guests lineup is great and plentiful, and help support and keep one of the very few fan friendly conventions (Vulkon) alive for several more years to come. Remember, if Vulkon is history, what will you be getting in Florida and Cleveland that will continue to be as great to you as Vulkon has been for the past 20 years?

Thank you...........

Joe Motes
Vulkon Promoter "

Jolene's a model. Models charge top dollar. Personally, I don't find her that "hot".
But you're right. In a few years, when her looks fail, and she's got no work or just bit parts...she'll lower her rate to something reasonable. I feel for the con here, as they tried to do the right thing, and it may kill them in the end. Hope they can survive.

Bryan R

Actually I am with you on "feeling for the con - Joe", I really hope Vulkon survives this and continues. Jackie and I went to the Vulkon Cleveland show this year and it is an awesome run con!!

I always hate seeing these kind of things happen!!

As Joe says, how does he replace Patrick Stewart? (one thing that makes it harder is there are 3 big/semi big cons in Orlando every year so finding a guest that people haven't seen that is at that level must be murder!
