I joined the Canadian contingent of the Colonial Marines From Aliens (1986) last year at DragonCon. I'm well on my way to getting my own kit together, here's what I have so far:

Thanks but the prices are reasonably low. Got that old pulse rifle for $206 CDN delivered to my door, just a little dollar store paint applied here and there and it looks amazing so far. The armour comes form a fellow close by in Montreal, about 350 to my door, a few coats of krylon and some cable ties and perhaps a strap or two for full measure and I'm done.

As the popularity of plastic costumes rises so seems that the costs are lower. Before it was unheard of to get anything remotely pulse rifle shaped for under a grand... Pretty much able to get the whole thing for just over half that.

Mind you I'm fairly Gung Ho for costumes, been doing them on the cheap though for a while now. Both my Jayne Cobb and Snake-Eyes outifts were surprisingly cheap to assemble :P

This is what my M-41 pulse rifle looks like now, perhaps a few more dabs of paint are in order. To further cut costs, I'm making the grenades from the movie from ABS couplers used in plumbing, rolling them around in dollar store silver acrylic paint and then dabbing some flat red enamel on them for the cap.
