Here is my quick run-down on my activities there.

Well shopqnamidala and I are back from our weekend convention at Polaris/TT22 at the DoubleTree in Mississauga and we are tired but had a very good time (the good bits way out-weighed the bad bits!).

Here is my mini-rundown as I am too pooped for a full detail listing tonight.

We arrived Friday afternoon, checked into our room and got settled before heading down to get our pre-reg'd passes (no problems here - well run and we waited maybe 10 minutes in line). The Vampire Event at night was not for me but shopqnamidala had a lot of fun in her costume and enjoyed mingling with her costuming friends.

I have to say it was AWESOME seeing pretty well all our con-friends and being able to either say hello or get a hug! Shout outs to: T.J., John, Ken, Twinks, Dave, David, Chani, Ruth, Rosemary, Peter, Sharon (you put on a good show dear!), Stephen C., HiCo, Nessa, Emily (jopwie), Sid (what an awesome costume!), I am sure there were more of you, just too tired to coallate right now - will add more later.

Saturday morning we had the buffett breakfast (eggs, sausages, bacon, fruit, toast, juice) and then started our schedule (photo op with Terry Farrell - what a gorgeous lady! then a photo op with Gareth David-Lloyd) after finding out our photo with Gareth was no good (due to a bad shadow in the picture we talked to the Photo op people and they told us to come back on Sunday and they would "take care of us" - AND they did big time on sunday!) Off to the autograph area to get Terry and Gareth's autographs - due to someone switching times for Gareth it made it really more complicated/crowded than it needed to be but all autographs were attained!

Spent lots of time chatting to friends - isn't that what this is all about!?!

Had a Swiss Chalet dinner with shopqnamidala, T.J. and John and then Jackie got into her Shaak-Ti costume and her and John (he wanted to be her backstage helper so I actually went and did more socializing!). The masquerade was really good 30+ entries and some really good ones (Twinks you were simply beautiful in your costume, Ruth and Julie and their gang had gorgeous costumes, Dawn's was fun and shopqnamidala had an awesome skit - way to go Jackie!)

The dance was a lot of fun - lots of friends, beer and good DJ's - could not ask for much better. Got to bed around 2:15am

Sunday was a bad start as the hotel's fire alarm went off at 6AM, 8:30AM and again at 9:00am so you can guess what that meant - bad sleep! Not blaming Polaris/TT for this one - it is on the hotel!

Went to the photo op to get a new one with Gareth and it is even better than the Saturday ones as they shot it landscape (not portrait) and it is amazing (and no bad shadow in it!) - big kudos to the lady running this and Rob the print guy - simply A1 service!

Having Pamela Barnes back in the dealers room was so good - ok I spent 100+ dollars on autographed Torchwood/Doctor Who photos but they were so worth it and she is a real gem and we also exchanged contact info - keep her coming back to Polaris/TT. She has the best 8x10 pics going (autographed and not).

We were so busy I never made it to the Art Room, charity Auction or a panel and had a blast - guess you really can't do it all (heck I could not even do 33% and had a good time).

A "little birdie" informed me Polaris 23 will be at a new hotel in Markham (due to needed repairs at the DoubleTree) - a new hotel may just be a good thing!

Thanks to all for making it a fun weekend at Polaris/TT22.....

Thank you for the kind words Bryan, all I need to do is get photos of my outfit from the colony sweep (different from evening, lacking pics there too).

Here's the video from my gun camera, unfortunately the quality isn't great because despite my previous successful test my software wouldn't handle the original high quality video. I had to convert it into lesser quality video but still cool none the less.

Here's the FPS video (note that I filmed without the barrel in the way this time unlike the previous attempt (http://youtube.com/watch?v=aYxQDM4Vwww))

I sold myartwork at the Polaris conventions sometimes. I've been there 3 times so far. I'm considering going in 2009 if I'm not doing a festival. The one thing about festivals (for people like me) are that attendies usually get in free, so the customer potential is massively bigger.
That said, Polaris is still a top choice for me to want to attend. The layout at Doubletree for exhibitors and dealers is perfect, and I've yet to find another con that has such a good traffic layout. Some cons I've displayed at don't have a good set up, which effects sales terribly. At Polaris, regular guests can't access obvious rooms, but the exhibit/non profit area they can, which gives them a taste of what is happening, and gets them interested in what else there is. Good publicity for all the future event tables set up looking for new potential attendies. Having them set up in a room off the beaten track, away from the public, is a little like trying to convert the already converted.

Con Suites - Your hospitality is wonderful, two thumbs up. I didn't know how good yours really was, until I had been to other cons to compare. WOW... some are bad, to non exsistant. This year I actually spent the extra and stayed at the convention hotel, almost next door to the Con Suite. Lots of fun, and yet no problem with noise when I was in my room.
So much more good things, but no time to tell. Back to creating !
