View Full Version : NIGHTMARE - a new psychosexual thriller
Dylan Bank 08-22-2005, 08:27 PM Hey horror and anime fans, I'm a 26 year old director from Brooklyn named Dylan Bank, and I just finished my first horror movie, a psychosexual thriller called NIGHTMARE. I raised the money myself and shot it on HD, and we just posted the trailer at our website
www.NightmareTheMovie.com
I invite all of you to check it out, and please let me know what you think, good or bad.
I went into NIGHTMARE to make the most intense, insane and surprising horror movie of all time, and now it is up to you to decide how much of my ambition got onscreen. Thank you, and I hope you take a look

Heres what I think... and take this with a grain of salt cuz, while Ive worked with some pro horror film people in the past, (if you count Full Moon and Tempe as professional, heh heh) I PERSONALLY dont have any finished films, only other peoples films Ive worked on... so you are way ahead of me, pal.
1st... Critics will groan when they see this... one of the most overplayed things that come from new filmmakers... over, and over, and over, and over, are movies about people making movies... it's old hat and they HATE it.
2nd... the music sounds like somthing out of an old Stage Melodrama... with the evil villian in a top hat, and curly mustache and cape... and a Hero named "Hero" and a damsel tied to the train tracks... or maybe the old CD-i videogame "VOYEUR".
That said...
The trailer was very nicely put together. It looks like somthing, if I was in the theater and the trailer came on, that I would consider going to see... It looks like it was well written and filmed, and probably a decent peice of cinema despite my criticisms above. The website is decentlty done as well.
I'd say it looks like you have put somthing together worth checking out...
Thumbs Up, man!
Cryozombie 08-22-2005, 10:54 PM Im also interested in the opinion of our resident celebrity... Malcolm.
Well we'd hafta get him in here! He hasn't been by much since the software change - not even to request my forum ;)
Dylan Bank 09-01-2005, 12:08 PM Thanks for the comments. I know movies about making movies can be cliched, but so can pretty much any plot. I promise you, there are no cliches in NIGHTMARE, and you will not see the ending coming, no matter how many horror or suspense movies you've seen.
As far as the music goes, we were just nominated for "Best Score" for the upcoming ShockerFest in Modesto California, along with "Best Picture", "Best Acress" and "Best Actor".
Thank you for your very in depth comments, and while I can't see the Snidley Whiplash element to it, I'm glad you were honest (Curses, foiled again!)
Anyone else out there see the trailer?

Silent Bob 09-01-2005, 07:15 PM Horror isn't one of my prefered areas, but the trailer was nicely done. Website looked nice, but some of it didn't seem to work with y browser (I use FireFox). Nice pro look to everything though. :)
Dylan Bank 10-05-2005, 03:10 PM Hey Rustaz, We have some good news. Things are really picking up for NIGHTMARE. I just got back from our world premiere in Shockerfest where we won "Best Score".
This weekend I'm going to the Eerie Horror Film Festival, where NIGHTMARE is nominated for "Best Picture"
Then, on Sept 23rd, we're playing in the New York City Horror Film Festival, one of only nine movies in competition.
After that, on Halloween night (and the night before), NIGHTMARE is playing in the Chicago Horror Film Festival, and we have the most nominations in the festival, at six.
Check out www.NightmareTheMovie.com for the full info, and to see the trailer.
Thanks to any of you who took the time to check out the trailer and to post (and for not pulling this post). Anyone else out there, take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think
