View Full Version : More Trek Movie Rumours
The www.Canmag.com Web site reported a rumor that William Shatner is one of the former Star Trek captains who would appear in a proposed new Trek movie set in the "mirror" universe. Citing an anonymous source, the site reported that a script is floating around for a proposed new movie that would bring together Shatner's Capt. James T. Kirk, Patrick Stewart's Capt. Jean-Luc Picard and possibly Scott Bakula's Capt. Jonathan Archer. The movie would be a prequel film set in the evil parallel universe first introduced in the original Star Trek episode "Mirror, Mirror" and last scene in the Star Trek: Enterprise two-part episode "In a Mirror, Darkly."
Shatner was rumored to be up for a guest role in the last season of Enterprise, which ended in May, but never appeared. The site reported that the proposed film might incorporate elements of that episode as well.
Officially, Paramount has made no announcements about a future Trek movie of any kind, and cast and crew members have repeatedly said on the record that they know of no plans for a further installment in the venerable movie franchise.

But, would blow continuarity since at the end of "In a Mirror", Archer was dead, and prior to that, he wasn't a captain.
Shatner hasn't aged well, so, the question remains on what role he would play, especially considering that one wouldn't expect him to live to Picards day.
It's an interesting idea, but one I don't think would fare well.

How about time travel or an "alternate universe" Trek? I haven't seen Shatner for a while but you're right, I suspect his days of sidekicks followed by haymakers are past.

I just always thought it was funny that he'd throw karate sidekicks combined with cowboy haymakers. The combination of trained and untrained was always interesting. He trained with Bruce Tegner, didn't he? :)

Well I am not sure about Archer but with Kirk he was in the Nexius (sp?) so they could always go back in and get him out since the comment from the movie was once you were in the nexius (sp?) you will always be in teh nexius (sp?).

No clue on who he trained with.
I didn't get cards with my dvd. :(
Man, that nexus adds the pounds..... :D
Shatner may not have aged well, but that could fit well in a Mirror type of universe. Personally, I think they should stop making Star Trek for a while and let it take a breather for a bit. It's not sustainable in the box office at this point in the space time continuum.
