Starship Troopers Sequel To Film

A sequel to 1997's Starship Troopers will begin filming in Los Angeles in May, Production Weekly reported. Phil Tippett, who supervised visual effects for the first Starship Troopers, will direct the sequel, the publication reported.

Gods...I liked the 1st movie (mmmm Dina) :) but there wasn't really much left to see from the book. This looks to be not really a sequel, but an 'inspired by' movie.

I predict the purists will hate it even more passionatly than the original movie.

You're likely very right. I never read the book, but thought the movie was done in a very interesting style - 40's and 50's propagana newsreel. Reminded me a little of how Robocop was done - parts as a newscast.

I did rather like the movie, don't get me wrong. I just think it's kinda campy. :)
