The TrekWeb site reported a rumor that Paramount may be considering issuing a reworked version of the maligned fifth Star Trek movie, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, which was directed by star William Shatner. Citing anonymous sources, the site reported that the studio—encouraged by the success of recent director's editions of the first and second Trek films—may be in talks with Shatner about retooling the movie for a future DVD release.

Well guess I should stop lerking about and post the odd thing here ... sorry to hear about your crash on the TT board ...

As for ST V - would be good to see it given a face lift on DVD - I must be one of the few people who was able to look past some of its short fallings aand enjoyed it ... with lines like
" What does god need with a Starship? " ... or " you don't ask the allmighty for his drivers license" .. or "the god" saying " "That was an image you created ..." always enjoyed its poke at religion ... and I like it better then the next gen movies would prob rate the ST movies as follows

1) Star Trek II
2) Star Trek VI
3) Star Trek IV
4) Star Trek V
5) Star Trek II
6) Star Trek I ( good but too long / slow at bits)

I thought 5 was cute and doesn't deserve the knocking it gets. I too enjoy the poke at religions.

Hey StarBug. Thanks for swingin in. :)

I always liked the even films...2, 4 and 6. 1 was too 'flashy, 3 too 'slow', and 5 too 'different'. Don't get me wrong, I liked em all tons more than I liked the NG ones.

Hmm...ratings
2, 6, 4, 3, 5, 1

in that order.

I liked First contact a lot from NG. Generations seemd to try to shove too much into a short period of time (tho theposter was cool). The rest looked..well, sucky. IMO

I like almost all of the original trek movies. I don't think any of them "suck" - they're all entertaining in their own way.

Thanks SB for the welcome -- good to come over to the dark side always wanted to shoot lighting out of my finger tips ... well at least the three even numbered movies are usually argeed on by most ... I agree three was a bit slow -- always watch it up until they get to the planet .. then fast forward to the end fight scene " I .... have ... had ... enough ...of ....you " (typed kaptin kirk speach :->)

Miyu - remember a poke at religion is better then no poke at all if you liked that poke at religon you may also like "THe Big Kahuna" with Kevin Spacy & Dany DeVito -- sorta melds industral lubs with jesus ... and marketing concepts great watch .. lots of levels good acting and story eah ...

For pokes @ Religion, I just watch Dogma...it makes some very valid points. Also a more serious one, Stigmata, I really liked. B)

God help me, I've registered for another board.

Anyway, I visit TrekToday off and on for news.

They have compiled many reviews for Nemesis. I'm glad to see it stinks, but I'll probably like it better than V.

I don't want to do it but will someone post here again if there is a final word on the Trek V DVD?

I read somewhere that it was dead for sure. Trektoday I think. Within the past 4 weeks.

Oh well, hello anyway. This is my first post.

I will make a note about Dogma and Stigmata.

Before I became a Christian I always looked to History and Religion itself to poke fun at Religion. A Catholic friend of mine once told me "Hey, I'm a Catholic. We've killed more people than anyone else on Earth."

I like that quote quite a bit.
