Roddenberry Highway

A Texas state legislator has proposed renaming Interstate 10 "the Gene Roddenberry Star Trek Memorial Highway," in honor of the Trek creator and El Paso native, the El Paso Times reported. Rep. Pat Haggerty (R-El Paso) presented the legislation to the House Border and International Affairs committee.

Roddenberry was born in El Paso in 1921, but spent much of his childhood in Los Angeles. He died in 1991.

Hundreds of Star Trek fans supported Haggerty's bill, HB 949, through e-mails to the Texas capital.

I'm surprised it took this long, although I think that a shorter, pithier title might have been conceived, & will undoubtedly become attached to it anyway.
