Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
The Digital Bits Web site reported a rumor that Lucasfilm is considering releasing the original Star Wars trilogy of films on DVD late next year. Citing anonymous industry sources, the site added that some work is already underway toward a fourth-quarter 2004 release of the DVDs.
The site added that Lucasfilm is pleased with the format of its upcoming DVD set The Adventures of Indiana Jones and will use the same format for the Star Wars release.

Eh big deal. Lucas screwed the pooch on that IMHO.

Its licenced. :P
I purchased the Special Edition Box Set... and the "Fair use" laws say as long as I own those I can have copies for personal use...
They may not be official releases... But they ARE licenced.
Had Lucas BOTHERED to release them before the technology to allow me make my own cheaply and easily, (And in pretty good qaulity too, Im not an AV snob) I totaly would have purchased them as well. But Lucas, with his stick up his tush, decided he was gonna hold out on the fans... so I did it myself.
And dont get me wrong, I am a HUGE Star Wars fan... HUGE... (I only know one person who can outplay me in Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, and he doenst ALWAYS win) HUGE. (I have star wars Tattoos) WALKING LANDMASS HUGE. (I'm making a short animated star wars LEGO movie) :vader:
I guess knowing that Lucas was going to put them out and the appox. time he planned to put them out, it never bothered me that he hasn't already. The prequels were his first priority - Id rather wait and get the holy mother of all box sets with all the disks at once, but thats just me....(doesn't stop me from getting the new ones on dvd...tho the first one WAS a gift - I was really trying to wait on holymother of all box sets :P)

I can agree with both views. Simply put, all I buy n watch anymore are dvds. I own the original trilogy and the SE, all on VHS.
The idea of buying em -again- is a bug. It depends on what the extras are. If they are packed with cut scenes, bloopers, interviews, and the specials, and reasonably prices, then its worth it.
If its just the films and a few clips, well, naw.
I mean, for the films I like I've bought em again on DVD....
Patton, Gladiator and Gettysburg are 3 that I own in both mediums.
:D
I would buy dvd for the same reason - its all I watch..I can't remmeber the last time I bought a VHS or even watched one.
Its the for profit bootleggers I can't stand :sniper:
